Heart & Hoof Donkey Reiki
The Heart & Hoof Reiki Donkey Program will provide gentle, consent-based emotional and spiritual support for rescued donkeys. Alongside excellent veterinary care, this program helps reduce stress, build trust, and support healing after trauma, neglect, or loss. Each session is guided by compassion, patience, and respect for the donkey’s comfort and choice. Our goal is to help every rescued soul feel safe, loved, and at peace. Our founder, Erin Elam, is an Equine Reiki Master and will supervise the program and all sessions.

Every sanctuary has a beginning story.
Ours starts with one opinionated, stubborn, brilliant, hilarious donkey named Radar — lovingly (and accurately) known as
“The Damn Donkey.”
And yes… he earned that title.
From day one, Radar made it clear:
trust was not going to be handed out for free.
It had to be earned. Slowly. Honestly. Without shortcuts.
And apparently… that was exactly the lesson I needed.
And me?
I’m the human behind the hay bales, feed buckets,
butt scritches, and emotional pep talks.
I’m the one who has full conversations with donkeys.
The one who celebrates tiny victories.
The one who was outsmarted by Radar more times
than I’d like to admit. I didn’t choose this life.
Radar assigned it to me.
And honestly?
I’ve never been more grateful.
Thank you, Radar, for everything.
